You want to know more about the background as well as the vision of the festival? Then stay tuned.

What is the Red Rocks Cultural Festival?
The Red Rocks Cultural Festival is an annual event that begins the last week of August and ends the first week of September. It also coincides with the annual gorilla naming ceremony. The vision is to use conservation in tourism as a tool for sustainable development. Therefore, it aims to involve the community as well as interested people in the recreational activities and management of the National Park Service. The national park – home to the last living mountain gorillas – is to be protected and the local community strengthened.
This event is a social and cultural gathering that aims to deepen communication between local residents and visitors. Red Rocks Cultural Festival supports the community’s everyday life, culture and environmental sustainability programs with a special focus to the need for promoting conservation and cultural sustainability.

The week-long cultural festival provides an opportunity for people to deepen their understanding of the culture and efforts of local people to protect the endangered mountain gorillas. This week is used to increase the participation of local people in Rwanda as well as those interested in cultural activities and also to promote the values of using cultural activities. This includes health, education, conservation, environmental protection and preservation of cultural heritage.
We use tourism in society as a means of skills development for socio-economic, educational and cultural promotion, and this event brings us together under one roof as a community. We come together to share topics and knowledge about the good practices that focus on how to maintain and preserve the quality of tourism and the environment and talk about the key concepts of environmentally friendly tourism and culture.
The cultural festival supports the feeling of cultural unity and at the same time promotes the possibility of environmental and cultural protection – so in addition to the fun factor, it also has an educational mission. Cultural diversity is to be celebrated and promoted. We think this festival is just awesome, what do you think?
